Gerwyn Price stormed to victory on Premier League Darts Night Three – dumping out both the reigning world champion and world number one in the process.

Price, from Markham, beat both Luke Littler and Luke Humphries en route to the final in Dublin on Thursday February 20, where he saw off Nathan Aspinall to get his hands on the trophy.

The victory – Price’s first in this competition since April 2023 – moves him up to second in the overall standings, behind only Humphries.

Opening up against Littler at the quarter-final stage, Price averaged 102 in a 6-4 win – his fifth consecutive victory over the world champion.

He then converted checkouts of 116, 120 and 170 on his way to a 6-3 semi-final victory over Humphries.

Then, the Iceman capped off a memorable night with a 6-3 win over Aspinall in the showpiece.

Price seized the early initiative by following up an 11-dart hold with a 120 checkout, only for Aspinall to break straight back and fire in an 11-darter of his own to lead 3-2.

However, the Welshman responded with a four-leg burst to complete the comeback, reeling off four straight legs in 14, 13, 14 and 13 darts to triumph with a 100.57 average.

Speaking after the final, Price said: “It was a great night for me.

“I’m not sure what it is but Luke Littler seems to bring the best out of me, so that was a great game to come through.

“Then to beat the world champion was big for me; I felt like the crowd got me through that game. It was like I was playing in Cardiff again.”

He continued: “I started a little bit slowly against Nathan [Aspinall]. I missed a couple of opportunities but I found my feet and I’m really glad to get a vital five points.

“I felt like I was playing well last year, but I was missing chances and getting punished. This year I’m taking my chances, I’m playing really well and the results are coming.”

Premier League Darts returns for Night Four in Exeter on Thursday February 27, with Price opening up against Humphries.
