Gerwyn Price has surged back into the Premier League Darts play-off spots after success on Night 6 in Nottingham.

It was a second night win in this year’s tournament for Markham’s Price, following his win in Dublin last month.

He sealed victory after beating reigning world champion Luke Littler in the final on Thursday March 13 – his sixth successive victory over the teen sensation.

The Iceman began his evening with a 6-4 win over Stephen Bunting in the quarter-finals – avenging his defeat when the pair faced off the night before in the Players Championship 6.

He then cruised to a 6-1 triumph over Michael van Gerwen in the semi-finals to reach the night’s showpiece.

There, 40-year-old Price defied a 103 average and seven 180s from Littler to win 6-3.

“Luke is the best player in the world at the minute, and he’s going to be for many years,” reflected Price, who moves back up to third in the standings.

“It’s the same when you play Michael van Gerwen and Gary Anderson. You know you need to be at your best to beat these players.”

He continued: “I’m just glad to get another win tonight. I have tried to be more positive this year, and it is showing on the board.

“In the last few years I’ve been quite negative, but before the World Championship I did some work with a sports psychologist trying to put my frame of mind in the right place, and it’s worked.”

Premier League Darts heads to Wales for Night 7, with Cardiff’s Utilita Arena the venue on Thursday March 20. There, Price will open up against Rob Cross in front of a home crowd.
