A former social club in Phillipstown, New Tredegar, is set to be converted into new homes.

Caerphilly County Borough Council planners have granted permission for the old Silver Band Club, on Fothergills Road, to become two three-bedroom homes.

Their decision paves the way for the vacant pub to be divided into two separate properties, likely in line with the building’s former layout before the club opened.

Designs show existing rear extensions will be demolished to make way for two new single-storey replacements.

Each home would have a lounge and family room, a kitchen and dining area, a utility room and toilet on the ground floor.

Upstairs, three bedrooms – including one en-suite – and a bathroom have been proposed for each of the two homes.

The council’s planning department granted applicant A Lippiatt permission for the conversion, subject to conditions.

Decisions due on plans for dozens of new homes and business park
