Welsh Labour’s interim leader has unveiled his party’s spokesperson team within the Senedd.

The party is now the third biggest party in Cardiff Bay, having won just nine seats at this month’s election.

Leader Eluned Morgan was among those to lose their seats, with former transport secretary Ken Skates taking over on an interim basis until a new party leader is chosen.

In a statement announcing the new roles for its MSs, the party said: “Drawing on extensive experience with fresh energy and ideas, the Welsh Labour Senedd group is committed to holding the Welsh Government to account and pushing for practical results that makes a tangible difference for the people of Wales.”

Seven of the Labour’s nine MSs have been given roles. Sarah Murphy’s portfolio will be announced when she returns from maternity leave, while Huw Irranca-Davies now serves as the Senedd’s Llywydd, or presiding officer.
