A new cafe could open in Newport’s Church Road, at a premises recently occupied by a popular cake shop.
Applicant Anna Kouroupis is seeking planning permission for the new venture, described as a “small coffee shop” selling hot and cold drinks and prepared pastries and cakes.
The proposed seating area at the premises would accommodate up to ten customers at one time, according to planning documents submitted to the city council.
The application is partly retrospective, with works reportedly starting at the premises – at 36 Church Road – at the end of April.
The prospective cafe will replace a shop run by Beth’s Bakes, a cake business which announced earlier this year it would move to a new store in Ringland’s Kiln Square.
The application is currently under consideration, and can be viewed on the Newport City Council website under reference 26/0331.
