Scrap metal warning after Senghenydd saw mill break-in

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 10:29, Monday December 21st, 2009.

Police are warning thieves about the danger of stealing electrical cables following a break-in at the old saw mills in Senghenydd.

A 32-year-old Ystrad Mynach man and a 19-year-old man and a 20-year-old man, both from Caerphilly, were arrested following the incident last week.

Both Caerphilly men are due before magistrates on Tuesday charged with burglary while the 32-year-old has been released on police bail pending further inquires.

A spokeswoman for Gwent Police said: “We are urging members of the public not to be attracted by the high costs of scrap metals and not to place themselves in grave danger of electrocution from metal thefts, cables and the like: these are extremely high risks to take for very little return.”

If anyone has any information about metal thefts, they should call Gwent Police on 101.
