An environmental consultancy firm, based at the Tredomen Business and Technology Centre in Ystrad Mynach, is set to double in size thanks to a £400,000 investment.

Utility Environmental Solutions, or UES, was established in 2003 and provides advice on energy, water, waste, telecoms and technology to clients across South Wales and Southern England.

The firm recently announced that it had secured £400,000 from Finance Wales, the investment vehicle of the Welsh Assembly Government.

UES, which was named Business of the Year (25 Employees or fewer) at last year’s Caerphilly Business Forum Awards, is planning to create 16 new jobs, doubling its size, over the next 2 years.

Andrew Diplock, Commercial Director at UES, said: “We are delighted with this investment, which will allow us to grow the business further and meet the increasing customer demand for our cost saving services.

“We are all very excited about the future of UES and look forward to building on our proven service offering.

“We would like to thank Caerphilly County Borough Council for their ongoing support which has been much appreciated.”

The council’s Business Development Team helped the company to apply for the £400,000 Finance Wales investment.

Council leader Lindsay Whittle and Cllr Ron Davies, cabinet member for regeneration, recently visited the firm at its headquarters.

Cllr Whittle said: “UES has bucked the trend and has gone from strength to strength over recent years, despite the economic downturn which has seen many small businesses suffering.

“This truly is a major success story and we are delighted that this exciting business venture is located in one of prestigious business centres. Let’s hope we can continue to support them and see even more new jobs created in future years.”
