Friends have paid tribute to a popular and well-liked man after his untimely death last week.

The body of 28-year-old Gareth Davies, of Senghenydd, was found in a lane near the Garth estate in Abertridwr last Thursday.

Police have yet to establish a cause of death and are still treating Mr Davies’ death as “unexplained”.

Alongside hundreds of tributes left to Mr Davies on a Facebook tribute page, his family have announced details of his funeral.

It will take place on Wednesday February 10. The funeral procession will be leaving at 1.30pm from Caerphilly Road, Senghenydd, for a service at the Beulah Chapel, in Abertridwr.

The procession will then leave the chapel at 3pm and head to Eglwysillan for the burial.

The Facebook tribute page now has more than 500 members.

Sarah Gale posted: “R.I.P.Gareth. You will be sadly missed by every one God bless love you.”

Tina Kay Griffiths wrote: “The guy upstairs was in need of an angel…who looked down…and chose you…..A loss for your friends and family but a gain to all those who now have you.”
