Deputy Housing Minister Jocelyn Davies visits county borough

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 09:30, Friday February 12th, 2010.

Jocelyn Davies, the Welsh Assembly’s deputy minister for regeneration and housing, is visiting Caerphilly County Borough today for the second time this week.

Ms Davies will travel to New Tredegar to see two successful regeneration projects – the Winding House Museum and the White Rose Social Enterprise Café.

Both schemes have received funding from the Assembly’s Heads of The Valleys programme and form part of a wider regeneration scheme that is helping to transform New Tredegar.

Today’s visit follows Wednesday’s trip to Tir-Y-berth when she met councillors and officers to look at houses recently improved by the council as part of its commitment to the Welsh Housing Quality Standard.

Councillor Ron Davies, Caerphilly County Borough Council’s cabinet member for regeneration, said: “We are delighted that the Minister has agreed to take time out of her busy schedule to visit our schemes.

“We are proud of the progress that has been made over recent years to regenerate our local communities and these projects help showcase the positive results that can be achieved by successful partnership working.”
