A motorist who killed his front seat passenger when he crashed while overtaking a lorry has been jailed for two years.
Jonathan Craig, 27, who is also known as Spencer Craig, of St Anne’s Gardens, Abertridwr, was sentenced at Guildford Crown Court on Thursday.
Last month the architect was convicted of causing death by dangerous driving after his Ford Fiesta crashed on the A3 near Hindhead in August 2008.
Craig’s Fiesta collided with a Ford Ka and 21-year-old passenger Ruth Brereton from Croyden was killed.
During last month’s trial Craig told the court that it had been a genuine mistake.
He was banned from the road for two years and ordered to take an extended test before driving again.
Miss Brereton’s family had appealed for Craig not to be jailed and the court was told he had become a “broken man” since the crash.
