Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Trading Standards will be hosting the ‘Garden Safe’ event at Gilfach Bargoed Community Centre on Wednesday March 31.

The event will run from 9.30am until 4.30pm, and aims to raise awareness of issues affecting personal and general safety in and around the garden.

Councillor Lyn Ackerman, cabinet member for the environment said: “This event promises to be an excellent opportunity for residents to come along and find out more about safety issues in and around the garden.

“I would encourage as many people as possible to come along and take full advantage of all the safety advice and assistance that the team have to offer.”

Electrical garden equipment is normally used for only a few months of the year and may have deteriorated badly over the winter months, resulting in damage to wiring, plugs and cords.

People who attend the event will have the opportunity to bring along their garden electrical equipment and have it safety tested by an electrical engineer for free.
