Labour’s Wayne David launches general election campaign

Caerphilly MP Wayne David.

Caerphilly MP Wayne David has today officially launched his campaign for re-election as the Labour candidate.

Earlier today Prime Minister Gordon Brown called the election for May 6 and drove to Buckingham Palace to officially ask the Queen to dissolve Parliament.

Mr David, who will be battling against Plaid Cymru council leader Lindsay Whittle, said: “This is a vital general election.

“If the Tories should win power it will be a disaster for communities in the Rhymney Valley.

“I am asking for Labour supporters to continue backing the Labour Party.

“But I am also asking people who have, in the past, supported Plaid or the Lib Dems to give their support to Labour.

“The choice is clear – it is between a Labour Government or a Conservative Government.”

Pam Baldwin, the local Labour Party chairwoman, said: “In this election campaign we are fully behind our candidate Wayne David.

“Wayne is well known, lives in the constituency and has a proud record of fighting for his constituents.

“Since he has been a Member of Parliament he has helped literally thousands of people through his constituency office.”

I'd take a look at his record before you even think about supporting him:

No, the choice in Caerffili is between a Labour MP or a Plaid MP. Voting Mr David back in won't keep Labour in office – whether Labour or the Tories win is down to the (majority) English voters.

I hope the people of Caerphilly will remember that Mr david was one of the Mps forced to pay back money he was not entitled to.Its time for a change.
