Silly socks were the order of the day at Caerphilly County Borough Council recently when council staff took part in a fundraiser for the Mayor’s Appeal.

Staff donned silly and outrageous socks and raised £494 for Cancer Research UK, which is the Mayor’s chosen charity for this year.

Mayor of Caerphilly County Borough Council, Cllr John Evans, said: “I’m thrilled that staff have got behind this appeal and have raised such an amazing amount of money.

“It really does mean so much to me, and their sense of fun in wearing crazy socks for the day made raising the money so easy.”

Cllr John Evans hopes to raise in excess of £14,000 this year for Cancer Research UK.
