Elderly woman falls victim to distraction burglary in Nelson

Gwent Police is appealing for information after an elderly lady was the victim of a distraction burglary in Nelson.

On Tuesday April 13 a man claiming to need change of a £20 note called on the door of the pensioner’s home on Llwyn Yr Eos, part of the Maes Mabon estate.

The man also claimed that he needed to fix some wiring.

The elderly woman let him into her home and after he left she noticed her handbag containing cash had been stolen.

The burglar is described as being approximately 17 years old, of large build with short mousey brown hair. He was wearing a long sleeved cream jumper.

Police are asking for anyone who may have seen the man in the area or who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously to contact them as soon as possible on 101, or to call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
