FlowerFestivalThis year’s Caerphilly Flower Festival was a huge success and the churches and local groups that helped make it so have been rewarded for their support.

A special award presentation took place last week at Caerphilly visitor centre, in Caerphilly town, to recognise the hard work and effort of the seven churches and five local groups that took part in the flower festival in June.

The popular annual event is organised by Caerphilly County Borough Council’s tourism unit and parks service.

All those involved received a special glass trophy from the Councillor John Evans, the county borough’s mayor and Cllr Ron Davies, cabinet member for regeneration,

Cllr Davies said: “The flower festival has become a highlight in our annual event calendar when the town centre comes to life with dazzling floral displays and attractions for all the family.

“The support of these local groups is invaluable and we are keen to show our appreciation to everyone involved for making this year’s event such a big success for local people and visitors alike.”

Work has already started on next year’s event and for the first time the festival will have a theme – the 1940s.
