Youngsters from across Caerphilly County Borough have been discussing the issues that are important to them at the 11th annual Youth Forum Conference.
The conference welcomed over 70 young people from the Caerphilly County Borough Youth Forum recently, where they spent an afternoon outlining the priority areas they would like to focus on tackling during the forthcoming year.
Caerphilly County Borough’s Youth Champion, Cllr Mike Prew said: “The Youth Forum provides a unique opportunity for young people aged 11 to 25 to have their voices heard on subjects that they feel affect them the most.
“It is fantastic to see so many young people who want to make a difference to the area they live in.
“They are an enthusiastic and passionate group of young people and I am sure that they will work hard to make a difference over the coming year.”
The priority areas identified were:
- Environment Issue – Improving local parks and helping to tackle vandalism.
- Health Issue – Promote awareness of the Social Services help available to young people.
- Education Issue – School Catering – look at areas that require improvement.
- Regeneration Issue – Promoting awareness of volunteering opportunities for people within the Caerphilly County Borough.
An online poll will now decide which of these four priorities will be selected for the Forum to address this year.
The Youth Forum is encouraging all young people in the county borough to get involved by voting at www.caerphilly.gov.uk/youth
The closing date is November 2.
