Police officers in Bargoed are reminding residents to check the security of their homes following a recent spate of burglaries.

Last week, seven homes in Bargoed were targeted where it appears that entry was gained through back doors and windows that had been left open.

In the majority of burglaries small items have been stolen, including purses and mobile phones.

Nic Mancino, Bargoed Neighbourhood Policing Team Sergeant, said: “We would like to remind residents to always double check that they have closed and locked their doors and windows before they leave the house or go to bed. Even if you’re in the house in the day, it’s a good idea to keep your doors locked. It’s also important that you keep your car keys in a safe place and out of sight.

“It may seem like simple advice but it’s very important that residents take steps to reduce the risk of them becoming a victim of crime. We are currently investigating the recent burglaries and I would encourage the public to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious behaviour.”
