A Rhymney man made redundant from his job of seven years has been given a helping hand to start his own business.
Jeff Pearce has set up Satisfaction Plumbing and Heating with the support of Caerphilly County Borough Council through the Heads of the Valleys Business Seed Capital Fund.
He said: “Setting up a new business can be a daunting prospect and I was uncertain about a number of issues, but thankfully I was offered a lot of support from the council and other local agencies.
“The fact that I could access money from the Heads of the Valleys Business Seed Capital Fund was also a big boost and I’d like to thank all concerned for their help.”
Realising that training and qualifications are very important for operating safely in the gas industry, Jeff worked hard to become Gas Safe registered (formally Corgi registration) and ACS Gas accredited.
His qualifications will enable him to provide an installation and call out service for local builders, local authorities and the public.
Councillor Ron Davies, cabinet member for regeneration said: “The Heads of the Valleys Business Seed fund is giving fledgling businesses a much-needed boost and this is particularly important in the current financial climate. I would urge local entrepreneurs to get in touch to find out more about the range of support that is available – from funding through to help with ICT and finding the right business property.”
