Caerphilly County Borough Council has been awarded a prestigious Silver award at this year’s Wales in Bloom competition.

The award recognised the work undertaken in Caerphilly to make the town centre an attractive area for shoppers, visitors and residents alike.

Councillor Lyn Ackerman, the council’s cabinet member for the environment, said: “We are delighted that Caerphilly town centre has been recognised by the Wales In Bloom committee. A lot of effort goes in to making the town centre come alive with impressive floral displays and I would like to thank everyone involved for their hard work and commitment.”

Wales in Bloom judge John Woods said: “Great strides have obviously been made in raising the profile of Caerphilly as a tourist destination and the contribution that both the floral displays and public art add to that package is to be commended.”
