Animal lover Grace Ball and her pet pooch received star treatment in front of the camera after winning a special council-run pet care competition.

Grace, from Caerphilly, won a photographic studio session with the award-winning Trethomas photographer Mike Dearden to have a professional photograph taken of her dog Tara, a Jack Russell Terrier.

Grace won the prize after completing a quiz at this year’s Big Cheese Festival. The quiz was part of Caerphilly Council’s Trading Standards exhibition on Pet Welfare, which provided information and tips on how to look after pets.

Councillor Rob Gough, cabinet member for public protection, engineering and transport, presented Grace with her prize.

He said: “I’m glad that Grace and Tara enjoyed their day at the studio and I’m sure the fantastic photo will take pride of place within their home.”
