A Trethomas-based photographer has been crowned UK Master Photographer of the Year.
Michael Dearden’s shot of 38-year-old bride Angela Lancaster, with her knickers around her ankles, impressed judges enough for him to scoop the prestigious award.
As well as the overall award, Mr Dearden was also named best Contemporary Wedding Photographer of the year.
The black and white picture was taken at Angela’s wedding to Gareth Thomas, 39, in Cardiff earlier this year.
Mr Dearden is no stranger to major awards having recently won Welsh Master Photographer of the Year for a seventh time.
Colin Buck, chief executive of the MPA, said: “Michael’s winning image is about as far from a conventional wedding photograph as you could wish for. It’s the perfect example of how today’s professional photographers push the creative boundaries and shows we should always expect the unexpected from our top photographers.”
