A specialist bike shop based in Abercarn has expanded to take advantage of Cwmcarn’s reputation as a top biking destination.

PS Cycles have diversified their business into bike hire to capitalise on the network of local cycle trails, in addition to Cwmcarn’s more extreme routes.

To help them expand their hire business, owners Bev and Paul Storey secured a Caerffili Cwm a Mynydd Tourism and Recreation Advancement grant, which has enabled them to purchase a fleet of brand new specialist Kona Caldera bikes.

Mrs Storey said: “We have succeeded in doubling our fleet size with the new bikes and would like to thank the Rural Development Team at Caerphilly County Borough Council for all their help.

“We were really struggling to meet the demands of large groups, particularly people travelling from the London area for a weekend away and this addition to our fleet has been very welcome.

Mr Storey said: “As well as a successful shop, we also have a reputation to maintain and will not be resting on our laurels. MbUK magazine have described us as ‘One of the best maintained Hire Fleets out there’ and we intend to keep it that way.”
