Pupils at Lewis School Pengam have hit the airwaves and launched their own school radio station.
The station will broadcast during break and lunch times. The head teacher will also be using the station for his morning message to pupils.
The radio station was launched by Sandra Aspinall, corporate director for education at Caerphilly County Borough Council, and singer songwriter and Welsh Music Award winner Amy Wadge.
Speaking at the launch, Amy said: “It’s a complete pleasure to be asked, there are some amazing musicians and songwriter performers in this school. It’s lovely to think that they can perform on their own radio station.”
The radio station is also used as part of the successful Intergenerational Club and Ms Aspinall, who was joined by another special guest – former Wales and Cardiff Blues star Rhys Williams, who was interviewed on-air by pupils and over 50s club members.
The radio station is manned by pupils, volunteers from the Intergenerational Club and has involvement from local community police.
