Llanbradach man prosecuted by Caerphilly Council for fly-tipping

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 16:31, Tuesday February 5th, 2013.

A man from Llanbradach has been ordered to pay £775 costs by magistrates after he admitted a charge of fly-tipping.

Darren Gurner, 35, of James Street, Llanbradach was given a 12-month conditional discharge by Caerphilly Magistrates’ Court on January 24.

The court was told that Gurner had dumped building waste from a Cardiff property at Mill Lane in Ystrad Mynach.

The waste included internal doors, building rubble, worktops, kitchen units, wall tiles and luggage.

Following an extensive investigation, Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Environmental Health Team decided to bring a case against him.

Cllr Dave Poole, cabinet member for community and leisure services, said: “It is encouraging that another successful case has been brought against someone who refuses to take their environmental responsibility seriously.

“It is unacceptable to deposit waste of this nature in an area of greenery, spoiling the environment in which we live. I would encourage anyone who comes across instances of fly-tipping to report it to the council, as we will do everything in our power to bring to justice those responsible.”
