An RE teacher from Ysgol Gyfun Cwm Rhymni has been suspended for 18 months after sending “inappropriate” Facebook messages to a pupil.
At a hearing of the General Teaching Council for Wales (GTCW) yesterday, teacher Lisa Manship, 33, was told her name would be removed from its register for the duration of the suspension.
The panel was told how Ms Manship used Facebook to message a vulnerable 17-year-old about another boy pupil. The messages were said to be of a sexual nature.
Ms Manship was sacked for gross misconduct after the girl’s mother reported the messages to the school.
Complaints had been made in the past about Ms Manship’s teaching and included allegations of swearing, telling jokes and talking about relationships.
