Caerphilly Youth Forum have raised their biggest ever amount of money for their chosen charity.
At a recent meeting of the Caerphilly Youth Forum, outgoing fundraising officer Morgan Trick presented a cheque for £1,000 to Velindre Cancer Care.
The Youth Forum raised the cash through a range of fundraising activities including a nine mile charity walk, a ten mile swim, a fancy dress BBQ and custard pie throwing with Youth Workers as their targets.
They also got Caerphilly County Borough Council staff involved with a charity car wash and dress down day.
Cllr Rhianon Passmore, Cabinet Member for Education and Lifelong Learning, said: “I am incredibly proud of the Youth Forum and their achievements this year, they are a shining example of what hard work can achieve.”
Morgan has now been replaced by Emily Jones in the recent Youth Forum elections and she hopes to build on this success for next year.
Caerphilly Youth Forum have also elected a new chair and deputy.
Joel Price, aged 17 years old from Cefn Hengoed was voted in as Chair, with Sophie Prosser, aged 16 years from Ystrad Mynach as his deputy. Both are experienced Youth Forum members who have worked on successful campaigns for the two previous priority issues.
