RSPCA appeal after rabbits and a guinea pig dumped in Blackwood

News | Gareth Hill | Published: 14:16, Friday March 14th, 2014.

RSPCA Cymru is appealing for information about two rabbits and a guinea pig that were found dumped  in a car park in Caerphilly County Borough.

One grey rabbit, one white rabbit and a black and white guinea pigwere found in two boxes outside Plas Mawr Community Centre in Blackwood on March 9.

Following a call from a member of the public they were collected by animal collection officer (ACO) Sarah Davies who took them for a health check at the local RSPCA clinic in Merthyr Tydfil.

The guinea pig was in good condition but the rabbits had a number of health problems. All of the animals are currently in the care of the RSPCA while further enquiries are carried out.

ACO Davies said: “People need to realise that abandoning an animal is an offence.

“People must seek help if they are having difficulties looking after their pet, there is no shame in asking for help, it is the right thing to do.”

“Anyone with information about where the rabbits came from should contact the RSPCA inspector information line and leave a message for me in confidence on 0300 123 8018.”
