Work ongoing to reopen A469 between Pontlottyn and New Tredegar

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 15:24, Wednesday March 19th, 2014.

Work to reopen the closed A469 between Pontlottyn and New Tredegar is progressing, according to Caerphilly County Borough Council.

The road has been closed for several weeks because of a landslip.

A council spokesperson said: “Welsh Water have transferred their water supply for the surrounding area to an overground temporary mains, which has meant that new additional drainage works on site were able to begin, and continue to progress.

“Materials have also been delivered to allow works to the retaining wall on site to commence as soon as the priority drainage works in its vicinity are complete.

“Welsh Water will begin their high pressure water main replacement, and the council will work alongside them to ensure programmes of work complement each other so that works can progress effectively and safely and be completed to re-open the road as soon as possible.

“We appreciate residents’ continued patience and further updates will be provided as soon as possible.”
