News | Richard Gurner | Published: 19:37, Friday April 11th, 2014.

Police are appealing for information following a robbery in Clive Street, Caerphilly town.

Around 6.30pm on Thursday April 10, two men attacked a 28-year-old man at the rear of Clive Street and stole an amount of cash from him.

The attackers left their victim with facial injuries.

Anybody with information should contact Gwent Police on 101 quoting log 460 10/4/14.

Age, build, hight, accent, colouring, clothing? Or is the description of “two men” enough?

I agree. The journalist needs to read a few eHow articles on writing a news story.

Hi Dean. The police have not issued a description of the two attackers. We have asked them for more details.

Is there any point in finding the attackers? They will only get a slap on the had a few weeks’ stay at HM Holiday-camp Belmarsh or equivalent.

It’s time these attackers are locked up and fed the bare minimum for a decade. It’s not only robbery but GBH.

A common complaint Dean and not without warrant, but a subject for debate on it’s own merit.
What I am concerned about here is the scant information of the description of the assailants.
Does the victim not have an idea what they looked like, which to be fair is perfectly reasonable? Or is there another reason no likeness of the perpetrators is been offered, even a viable reason perhaps?

Plenty of CCTV cameras throughout the town which SHOULD have picked up ANYONE walking through the town. To escape being captured on them, anyone wanting to do so, would have to plan a way out of town, and that can only be achieved by taking a route through the Castle Grounds via Ludlow Street or Bradford Street. from Clive Street, but there have been serious incidents in the town in recent years which for some mysterious reason we are told were NOT recorded on these street Cameras, one of the reasons is that each Camera is almost always aimed at one spot, for instance, the one at the Clive Street Cardiff Road Junction traffic lights Island is normally aimed at the IRISH TIMES.PUB the one at the end of Stockland Street is normally aimed at the front of the KINGS ARMS, PUB the one at the Westminster Bank is almost always aimed at the drive and entrance to the COURT HOUSE PUB, and the one outside Iceland store is aimed at the VISITOR CENTRE AND THE TWYN CAR PARK, the one at the Principality Building Society ( Peter Alans) is almost always aimed at THE TWYN COMMUNITY CENTRE, so, unless there is a problem outside a town centre pub, at the Councils Visitor Centre or the twyn building then forget about gathering evidence of any other public disorder or criminal offences being committed against law abiding citizens by these civic, costly, toys, forget it,

To be fair those areas would be the hotspots. But I am concerned about the lack of access to the footage from these cameras by the general public, I know of an instance where somebody requested footage to prove his movements and was denied. Rules and regs I should imagine.
I’m glad the observer is requesting more information on the assailants I look forward to reading it.

Everyone has access to any capture of them by these public cameras, if anyone is denied proper access, having gone through the safeguarding process of the application, in the case of the Street Cameras throughout Caerphilly Borough Area, the application would be to the CAERPHILLY SAFETY PARTNERSHIP, if there is still a problem to access identifiable footage then the regulatory authority to contact is The Investigatory Tribunal in London.

It is wholly unreasonable to the ratepayers who pay for the operation of these cameras, for these cameras in the Town, to be predominantly used because of the ` potential` lack of proper good management and governance by premises supervisors of local drinking holes, unless of course these places become the centre of town activity, which may be the case in the late evenings, that is not the case in the day and these facilities, an aid to law enforcement and public order, health and safety issues, road safety etc, have to be better used to protect and detect town centre crime than they are at present.

I cant see why the police are asking for info as unless someone witnessed the incident, there is not enough information to go with (I say this as the headline states “An Appeal for information”. Is this a one-off by some people passing through or the start of a crime-wave by some local hoodlums?
