This article brought back happy childhood memories of climbing on the castle walls. This was not allowed then, as now, but nearly all boys did climb. My brother fell off a tower and he was lucky that another boy managed to grip him and slow his descent enough for him to grab a scaffolding tube that was there for wall repairs.
Climbing around these walls is a silly thing to do but a little part of me rejoices that not all young boys are glued to their X box or mobile phone and do behave as boys have done since times immemorial.
Although, you can behave like boys without endangering your lives. Climbing trees, walking in streams, building ‘dens’ all fall in the same category but have less risk involved.
I’m going to shut up now as I feel physically sick aiding with health and safety.
I am surprised that this is considered newsworthy – still at least the silly boy didn’t get hurt and the fire-fighters got to do a bit work that didn’t involve having to deal with other peoples disasters for a change! I bet he got some stick off his mates for getting himself stuck!
What? How and why did he get on the wall? Stupid boy!
should have left him there!
