Almost £800 was raised for charity during a St David’s Day soldier parade.
Thousands of residents and visitors welcomed members of the 203 (Welsh) Field Hospital when they marched through the centre of Risca. Pupils from Risca Comprehensive School worked alongside local cadet forces for the the parade accepting donations.
Caerphilly County Borough Council’s nominated Armed Forces Champion, Cllr Alan Higgs, recently presented representatives from ABF The Soldiers’ Charity and T? Hafan with a cheque for £795.90.
ABF and T? Hafan are both nominated charities of the 203 (Welsh) Field Hospital.
Cllr Higgs said he was delighted the amount was raised in just two hours.
