AT THE BALL: The cast and crew of Caerphilly’s Cinderella

A sell-out pantomime raised £1,700 for a new minibus for Caerphilly Children’s Centre.

Staff and friends of the centre performed Cinderella at Wesley Methodist Church, Caerphilly, in March.

This year’s performance was the sixth time the centre has put on a fundraising pantomime and like the story, it wasn’t as simple as going to the ball.

The performers had to change venues after The Greenfly in Bedwas was demolished and only had one Ugly Sister until days before the performance.

Luckily Leanne Talbot stepped in alongside her ‘sister’ Dennis Evans and Kirsty Davies performed excellently as Cinderella.

Leanne, 21, from Caerphilly, has since been awarded a place at the prestigious Royal Central School of Speech and Drama at the Embassy Theatre in London.

Scriptwriter and director, Shirley Shorney, said: “Congratulations to Leanne for gaining such a coveted place at such a prestigious centre.”

She added: “Thanks to everyone who helped on stage, backstage and front of house, I’m thrilled that over £1,700 was raised for the invaluable centre.”
