A record crowd of 5,000 descended on Machen Agricultural Show last weekend as the weather played its part to ensure the event was a huge success.
Rain had been forecast for the 74th annual show, but by the afternoon the sun was at full strength and any fears of a downpour had quickly evaporated.
A host of local traders were on hand to offer visitors their goods and guests were wowed by a wide array of events including a tractor pull and a motorbike stuntman.
There were also plenty of animal displays to keep visitors entertained.
Kevin Stanworth, chairman of the Machen Agricultural Show, said: “In all the years it has been going we have only had the show cancelled twice because of the weather.
“The show has gone from strength to strength with more trade stands and more members of the public.
“We try to keep it a family-friendly country show.”
