A man walking his dog was taken to hospital after he was attacked by two men in Abercarn.
The victim was walking along the riverbank at the rear of the Prince of Wales Industrial Estate, in Abercarn when two men approached him and demanded that he handed over his dog. The area is locally known as “Fish Leaps”.
After a struggle, the men made off on foot towards Travis Perkins Builders Merchants.
The attempted robbery took place at around 7.50pm on Thursday July 10.
The dog walker suffered minor facial and leg injuries and received treatment at the Royal Gwent Hospital in Newport. The dog was unharmed.
One of the attackers is described as being white, in his mid 20s, approximately 5ft 11in tall and of medium build. He had a long slim face with a pronounced chin and dark coloured eyebrows. He spoke with a strong Irish accent and was wearing a dark blue hooded top, black tracksuit bottoms and black trainers.
The other man is described as being white, in his mid 20s, approximately 5ft 9in tall and of slim build. He had short dark brown hair which was spiked at the front and stubble. He spoke with a Newport or Cardiff accent and was wearing a white t-shirt, navy tracksuit bottoms and white trainers.
