Caerphilly construction course secures employment success

News | | Published: 14:00, Tuesday July 29th, 2014.

Two thirds of people who completed a construction course at a Caerphilly-based training centre have now found employment.

Construction Skills Training said that 64% of trainees who completed its multi-craft construction course in the past year are in employment, with two in five of those now owning and running their own construction related businesses.

The Level One Diploma in Basic Construction is designed to offer skills training in construction trades, including brickwork, rendering and plastering, carpentry and joinery, painting and decorating, tiling and plumbing.

The programme, which is City and Guilds accredited, prepared the trainees to build a career in the construction industry after many of them were made redundant.

Edwin Channell, Centre Manager at Construction Skills Training, said: “The results from our Level One Diploma in Basic Construction are simply outstanding, especially as most people on the course had no experience in construction at all having mainly worked in factories.”
