Hundreds of runners, walkers and cyclists are due to take part in the Great Gwent Poppy Run.
The Royal British Legion’s annual event will take place at Cwmcarn Forest Drive on Sunday September 21, starting at 9am.
The event’s seven-mile course takes in the whole Cwmcarn Forest Drive route, beginning at the pay kiosk barrier at the entrance to the Forest Drive. This follows a one-way path to a two-mile circuit at the top, followed by a descent back down the finish point in this challenging event.
This year the event will also feature a five-mile route, starting at the same point, for anyone who would rather not take on the full course.
Cllr David Carter, Mayor of Caerphilly County Borough Council, said: “The Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal is one of my chosen charities for this year, therefore I am delighted to support this wonderful event, taking place in one of our key tourist destinations, Cwmcarn Forest.
“I would encourage as many people as possible to get involved, enjoy the event and help raise funds for this very worthy cause along the way”.
It costs just £10 to register to take part in the run in advance, or £25 on the day.
