A social enterprise which refurbishes unwanted furniture and electrical goods has celebrated 15 years in business.

The Furniture Revival, based in Rhymney, is the trading arm of environmental charity Groundwork.

Originally set up in 1999 as a project of the charity, the firm collects reusable household items and sells them on.

The not-for-profit company has also established a scheme which collects old paints and mixes them for community use and to sell in its shops in Caerphilly town and Blackwood.

The Furniture Revival works with organisations such as Communities First and GAVO to help train local people through volunteering and work-based opportunities.

New Tredegar councillor Gerald Jones, who attended the company’s anniversary celebrations, said: “Furniture Revival provides an excellent service to local communities.”

Kylie Bell, Business Development Manager with Furniture Revival, said: “This is a key milestone for our social enterprise and we aim to increase the range of reuse services that we provide to help support more people in the years ahead.”
