Thousands enjoy National Play Day at Caerphilly park

More than 3,000 people filled into Morgan Jones Park in Caerphilly town to celebrate National Play Day on August 5.

GAVO organise the annual fun day to highlight the importance of play and encourage families to play together outdoors.

The free activities included  water slides, a skate park, golf, early years play, a foam pit, parent marquee, a climbing wall and a bush craft area which included den building, pond dipping and open fire cooking.

Martin Featherstone, Chief Executive Officer of GAVO said: “It was great to see partners working together to deliver a well organised event.

“It was good to see families enjoying the wide range of free activities, which were on offer throughout the day.”

Cllr Leon Gardiner, Mayor of Caerphilly County Borough Council said: “I am delighted with the excellent turnout that the GAVO National Play Day has received.

“It was wonderful to see so many families enjoying their day at Morgan Jones Park.”
