Police investigate arson attack on disused pub in Pontllanfraith

Gwent Police and South Wales Fire and Rescue Service are investigating an arson attack on a disused pub in Pontllanfraith.

Crews were called to the White Hart pub on Newbridge Road at 7.30pm on Saturday, January 9 and battled through the night to extinguish the blaze. Crews were back at the scene on Sunday checking for hotspots.

However firefighters had to return at around 5.20am this morning when the building was again alight.

South Wales Fire and Rescue Service said there is currently no information on the cause of the second fire.

• Fire crews from Caerphilly, Aberbargoed and Whitchurch successfully tackled a garage blaze in Llanbradach on Sunday, January 10.

South Wales Fire and Rescue Service received eight 999 emergency calls at 1.10pm to the fire on Wingfield Terrace and the fire was out by 1.30pm.

The garage had three vehicles and a number tyres in it, and there were no injuries.
