A tuition company is on a mission to inspire the next generation of scientists with a new summer school aimed at children.

Educalis, which is based at the Welsh Innovation Centre for Enterprise on Caerphilly Business Park, will be running its Little Einsteins Summer School throughout the summer holidays.

Focused on STEM subject areas of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths, the sessions will include themed educational activities around these.

Science graduate and founder of Educalis Emma Blewden said the idea behind the summer school, which is aimed at four to 11-year-olds, was to help foster a love of the STEM subjects from an early age.

She explained: “At GCSE Level, quite a lot of pupils have lost the passion or interest in these subjects and some feel that it is above them. As a result, pupils aren’t as engaged as they could be. The purpose of the summer school is to complement the curriculum and further engage pupils in STEM subjects from a younger age.”

As well as activities based around STEM, pupils will get the chance to problem solve and make use of literacy skills.

The fun won’t be restricted to indoors as there are outdoor activities planned too.

The school will run Monday to Friday between 9am and 4pm.

A full-day costs £40, while half-day sessions run 9am to 12pm or 1pm to 4pm, and cost £25.

Discounts for multiple bookings are available.

Children aged four can attend half day sessions.

Pupils need to bring a packed lunch and sun cream labelled with their name. The full range of activities on offer will be confirmed closer to the dates.

Bookings for the classes are currently being taken and if you would like to reserve a place then please email hello@educalis.co.uk or call 02921 679 069 or 07807 006123.
