Shelbie Williams, 19, was able to travel to Disneyland Paris

A young woman suffering from a life-limiting condition has enjoyed a dream holiday to Disneyland Paris.

Shelbie Williams, 19, who previously starred on the Channel 4 documentary: Born To Be Different, has a rare condition that causes poor growth and muscle weakness.

Shelbie was able to go to Disneyland in November with her family thanks to HC-One’s Abermill care home in Abertridwr, who lent her their minibus so she could travel to Paris.

Although her family received funding for the trip from the Magic Moments Children’s Charity, they initially had no method of transport for the holiday.

Vicky Williams, Shelbie’s mum, said: “We are so grateful to the team at Abermill for making the trip to Disneyland possible by lending us the minibus.

“This is probably the last time we will be able to take Shelbie on holiday, and it has been an incredible opportunity to make more memories as a family. We had the most amazing time and would like to say a massive thank you to the kind caring company HC-One.”

Leah Mort, Home Manager at Abermill, said: “The whole team at Abermill is delighted we could help make Shelbie’s wishes come true. She is a lovely young lady and I am so glad her and her family had a brilliant time together.”

Shelbie suffers from partial Trisomy 9P – a rare chromosomal syndrome, as well as a metabolic disease of the Mitochondrial Cytopathy condition, which can result in poor growth and muscle weakness.
