Fundraising walk for new disability drop-in centre

News | | Published: 15:53, Thursday June 20th, 2019.

Diya Charitable Foundation is raising money to open a drop-in centre for families with disabled children

A sponsored walk and wheelchair push to raise funds for a drop-in centre for disabled children is set to take place on Saturday, June 22.

Starting from Caerphilly Station at 1.30pm, Wayne David MP will join the walk through the town, led by the amazing Dholak Drummers. Fireworks and the world champion BTM Brass Band will greet walkers at the finish line at Bedwas Workmens Hall.

The afternoon will continue with refreshments, entertainment for the children, a Tom Jones Tribute act, and a Raffle with fantastic prizes, including a luxury weekend break in Tenby.

Dr Narayanan Rajan, who practices in Abertridwr, Llanbradach and Bedwas, founded the Diya Charitable Foundation with the aim of buying the leasehold of the Llanbradach surgery.

The building is set to be replaced with a new medical centre serving the village and Dr Rajan wants to open the drop-in centre to help families living with disabled children in the Abertridwr, Llanbradach and Bedwas areas.
