More than 70,000 visitors flocked to Caerphilly town centre for this year’s Big Cheese festival.
The sun shone and temperatures soared as the 22nd edition of the annual event took place.
More than 400 local school children with additional needs and their families were given the chance to enjoy the funfair rides before the fair opened to the general public on Friday, July 26.
The event was officially opened with the Great Cheese Race and a fireworks display to draw the opening day to a close.
On the Saturday, Caerphilly Male Voice Choir performed in Caerphilly Castle’s Great Hall, while Cefn Hengoed Ladies Choir sang at the bandstand in Castle Court Shopping Centre.
It has been reported that many traders, particularly food traders, sold out of their produce on the Saturday, with many rushing to prepare more in time for the final day of the event.
Cllr Sean Morgan, the council’s cabinet member for the economy, said: “The Big Cheese continues to be a firm favourite for visitors and attracts people from across Wales and beyond to enjoy the weekend’s activities. As well as providing fun for all the family, the festival also draws tens of thousands of people to the town, giving local businesses an excellent opportunity to attract new customers.”
