St Cenydd road set to reopen tomorrow following gas pipe work

News | | Published: 10:27, Friday September 6th, 2019.

Part of St Cenydd Road has been closed due to gas pipe works

St Cenydd Road is due to be reopened tomorrow, Saturday, September 7, according to Wales and West Utilities.

The road has been closed in both directions between Martin’s Farm and Trecenydd Industrial Estate since July.

Despite the reopening, temporary four-way traffic lights will remain on the junction with Nantgarw Road and Lon y Llyn until Friday, September 20. The overall work on St Cenydd Road, which will see one and a half miles of gas pipes replaced at a cost of £340,000, is scheduled to finish by January next year.

Wales and West Utilities, which has responsibility for the gas network in Wales, described the work as “essential”. The company, which is owned by the Hong Kong-based CK Infrastructure Group, also said the road closure work had been completed within its six-week schedule.
