Parking restrictions in place on Caerphilly Mountain for fireworks display

Caerphilly Castle Fireworks

Spectators hoping to get a good view of this year’s fireworks at Caerphilly Castle have been warned they may end up with a parking ticket.

Temporary restrictions will be in place on Caerphilly Mountain Road during Saturday’s fireworks display.

The restrictions will be in place from 3pm – 10pm on the A469 Thornhill Road and the B4263 Mountain Road.

Caerphilly County Borough Council say the restrictions will be in place to stop “obstructive parking and to ensure the flow of traffic” during the display.

Civil Parking Enforcement officers will be on site and the council has urged people to use public transport where possible due to possible congestion.

Caerphilly Castle’s display takes place on Saturday, November 2, at 7pm and is expected to last for around 30 minutes.

The display is run by Caerphilly Town Council.

While the display is free for people to watch, visitors will be able to make donations to this year’s charitable appeal which is in aid of Velindre Cancer Centre and Caerphilly Lions.

Volunteers wanting to help collect for charity can go to the Twyn Community Centre at 5pm on the day and bring a form of identification.

There will be a temporary road closure on Crescent Road between 5pm and 9pm on the night and there will be no access to the town centre from Nantgarw Road, with no parking allowed in this area.

Crescent Road car park and Ysgol Gyfun Cwm Rhymni’s Y Gwyndy campus will both be open for parking, but residents are asked to travel by foot if possible.

Meanwhile, a fireworks display will be held at Blackwood Rugby Club from 6pm on Tuesday, November 5.

Tickets cost £5 for adults, and £3 for concession. Burgers, hot dogs and mulled cider will be available.

Elsewhere on Bonfire Night, Bargoed will be hosting its display at Hanbury Road car park.

Run by Bargoed Town Council, the display will  begin at 6.30pm and will last about an hour.
