A Pontllanfraith-based company is to begin producing ventilator connectors to help during the coronavirus pandemic.

Motion29, which is based on Newbridge Road Industrial Estate, has received a grant of nearly £7,000 from Caerphilly County Borough Council to buy equipment allowing them to supply the connectors at short notice.

The funding comes from the council’s Caerphilly Enterprise Fund, and it is match-funded by Motion29.

The funding will also safeguard the 11 existing jobs at the firm.

Andrew Wilkinson, managing director at Motion29, said the council “took on board the urgency of the requirement and two days later we received their approval of our grant application”.

Mr Wilkinson added: “We have now ordered the equipment we require to enable us to get ready to supply connectors to support the Covid-19 ventilator effort.”

Cllr Sean Morgan, the council’s deputy leader said, “Supporting local businesses and safeguarding jobs is vital during these difficult times.  The grant to Motion29 goes much further than this – as well as supporting our local economy, it will also have a direct impact in saving lives throughout the UK during this time of national emergency.”
