The number of new positive test cases of Covid-19 in the county borough is slowing, according to data from Public Health Wales.

Between June 1 and June 15, just ten people had tested positive for coronavirus.

Between May 17 and May 31 there had been 47 positive tests and between May 1 and May 16 there had been another 47.

As of June 15, a total of 708 people have tested positive in our area.

At the beginning of the month, Caerphilly County Borough initially recorded six days without a new case, however figures have since been revised to account for delays in testing results. Despite this, the revised data still indicates the spread of the virus is slowing.

Not everyone who has Covid-19 is necessarily tested. For example, people who are displaying no symptoms may have it, but have not been tested.

Data from the Office for National Statistics shows that up to May 29, there were 128 deaths involving Covid-19. Of those, 25 were outside a hospital setting. Eighteen were in care homes and six at private homes. A single death took place in a hospice, another community establishment, or elsewhere.

Across the United Kingdom, the total death toll of those who have tested positive is 41,736 as of June 15.

However, there have been 53,077 deaths (up to June 5) where Covid-19 has been mentioned on the death certificate.
