Two blood donation hubs to open in borough during October

Two blood donation hubs will be coming to Caerphilly County Borough in October.

The hubs will be set up at Pontllanfraith Leisure Centre and Newbridge Leisure Centre.

Spaces are still available in Pontllanfraith for Thursday, October 8, while donations can be made in Newbridge on Monday, October 26 and Tuesday, October 27.

The Welsh Blood Service, which runs the hubs, has appealed for new donors to come forward to give blood.

A number of blood donation hubs will be set up across south Wales in October.

Despite the local lockdowns, travelling to give blood is classed as essential travel. However, there won’t be any walk-in slots available, with all donors required to book in advance.

This means, donors from Caerphilly County Borough could travel to Nantgarw or Treharris, for example, to give blood – despite those areas being outside the borough.
