Darts star Gerwyn Price was knocked out of the European Championship after a second round defeat to reigning world champion Peter Wright.

Price, 35, suffered a 10-6 defeat to Scotsman Wright on Friday night (October 30).

Wright went on to win the competition outright, beating James Wade 11-4 in the final of the competition, which was held in Oberhausen, Germany.

The clash between Price and Wright saw both players average over 100.

Price, from Markham, hit back from 2-0 down with a pair of 12-darters, only to see his opponent pull clear by landing two 11-dart legs to move 9-3 ahead.

The Iceman hit back with checkouts of 148, 127 and 80 to stay in the contest, but Wright pulled through to secure a quarter-final berth.

The defeat sees Price drop back down to third in the PDC Order of Merit, with Wright leapfrogging him into second place, behind Michael van Gerwen.
