Caerphilly County Borough Council will be delivering free school meals to the homes of eligible pupils from next week.
The deliveries will begin the week beginning Monday, December 14. The council has asked those due a delivery to make sure there’s enough space in their freezer.
The free school meals over the holidays are being paid for by the Welsh Government. Earlier this year it pledged £11 million to Welsh councils to provide the meals until Easter next year and won the backing of Manchester United footballer Marcus Rashford – who has been campaigning on the issue.
To register for the free school meals delivery service, eligible families can contact the council via catering@caerphilly.gov.uk or 01443 864055. If emailing, please provide: Your name, address, child’s name, child’s date of birth and their school name.
If you have already registered for deliveries, there is no need to do so again.

Over the summer, Caerphilly County Borough Council was the only council in the Gwent area to deliver free school meals to homes.
